Astros Minor League Recap: April 19th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (13-6) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Sugar Land got on the board in the first inning on a Julks sac fly. They got another in the 3rd inning on a Leon RBI double. Gusto started for Sugar Land and went 4 innings allowing 3 runs, 2 earned. He was relieved by Gaither who allowed 4 runs as the Express extended their lead. The offense got one back in the 9th on an Amaya RBI single but that was it as Sugar Land fell 7-3.

Note: Leon is hitting .32o this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-9) lost 7-2 (BOX SCORE)

Knorr started for the Hooks and lasted just 1.2 innings allowing 3 runs, though all were unearned. He was relieved by Ford who allowed 2 runs, also unearned. The offense got one back in the 2nd inning on a Stevens RBI groundout. They got another in the 6th on a Stubbs sac fly. Fleury went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs but the offense was unable to get anything else going as the Hooks fell 7-2.

Note: De Paula has 8 K in 4 relief innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (6-7) lost 14-11 (BOX SCORE)

Asheville got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring a run on a Fisher solo HR. They got another run in the 3rd inning on a Whitaker RBI double. Dombroski got the start but ran into trouble and allowed 5 runs over 4 innings of work. He was relieved by Calderon who allowed 7 runs over 3 innings. The offense got 3 in the 7th on a Guillemette RBI double and Fisher 2 run double. Cerny would add a solo HR in the 8th inning. Asheville went into the 9th down 14-6 but did rally a bit. They scored 5 runs on a Price bases loaded walk, Cruz RBI single, Cerny RBI groundout and Deming 2 run double. That was it though as the Tourists fell 14-11.

Note: Fisher has a 1.125 OPS this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (9-4) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the first inning on Santander RBI single and Ochoa 3 run double. Pena got the start and went 4 innings allowing 1 unearned while striking out 6. They picked up another run in the 5th when Jaworsky stole third base and scored on an error. Santos closed it out tossing 4 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts.

Note: Santos has a 1.54 ERA this season.
