Astros Minor League Recap: April 16th

Another day of Astros minor league action is in the books. See the results below!

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (11-5) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for Sugar Land and was solid despite allowing 2 unearned runs in the 2nd, he went 5.1 innings allowing 2 hits. The offense got on the board in the 3rd scoring 3 runs on a Salazar RBI double. The Sugar Land bullpen was great tossing 4.2 scoreless innings as they closed out the 3-2 win.

Note: Salazar is hitting .359 this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (2-8) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board first scoring a run in the first on a Barber sac fly. Robaina got the start and was great striking out 8 over 5 innings while allowing 1 run. The Mission got a run in the 6th but the Hooks tied it up in the 8th on an Arocho RBI single. Rodriguez went 4 innings allowing 1 run as the game went into the 9th tied at 2. With one out in the 9th, Hamilton sent the fans home happy connecting on a walk-off RBI single as the Hooks won 3-2.

Note: Sacco is hitting .343 this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (5-5) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bloss got the start for Asheville and was great tossing 4.1 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Guillemette put Asheville on the board with a 2 run HR in the 3rd inning. They got another run in the 4th on a Baez walk. A Garcia sac fly in the 6th stretched the lead to 4-0. Mancini allowed 2 runs in relief but went the final 4 innings as closed out the 4-2 win.

Note: Bloss has a 1.08 ERA this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (7-3) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Hicks started for the Woodpeckers and was dominant striking out 8 over 5 scoreless innings. The Woodpeckers offense was quiet but finally got on the board in the 8th on a Gomez solo HR, his first HR of the season. Rodriguez closed it out tossing 4 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts as he wrapped up the 1-0 win.

Note: Hicks has 13 K in 9 innings this season.
