Astros Minor League Recap: May 13th

Another day of minor league action is in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (16-21) won 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Whitley started for Sugar Land and pitched well allowing 1 run over 4 innings with 4 strikeouts. The first run for Sugar Land came in the 6th on a Lee solo HR. In the 7th, Sugar Land blew it open scoring 6 runs on a Kessinger RBI single, Leon bases loaded walk and Bannon grand slam. Gomez closed it out with a scoreless 9th inning to seal the 7-5 win.

Note: Gomez has a 0.00 ERA in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (12-20)

Game 1 – lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Chaidez started for the Hooks and allowed 4 runs over 2 innings. The offense battled back getting a run in the 3rd on a Gilbert RBI groundout, Corona RBI single in the 4th and Wagner RBI groundout in the 5th. The bullpen was solid but the offense was unable to complete the comeback as they Hooks fell 4-3.

Game 2 – lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Plumlee started for the Hooks and pitched well allowing 1 hit and 1 run over 5 innings. Betances allowed 1 run in relief. The offense had another slow game picking up just 1 run in the 7th on a Gilbert RBI single but that was it as the Hooks dropped Game 2, 2-1.


A+: Asheville Tourists (11-19) lost 4-1 (BOX SCORE)

De Paula started for Asheville and pitched well allowing 1 run over 4 innings of work. The offense got on the board in the 4th inning on a Melton solo HR. Knorr relieved De Paula and allowed 2 runs over 3.2 innings with 7 strikeouts. The offense was quiet the rest of the way as the Tourists fell 4-1.

Note: Dezenzo is hitting .390 this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (13-18) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Santa started for the Woodpecker and allowed 4 runs over 4.1 innings, with 3 coming in the first inning. The Woodpeckers entered the bottom of the 5th down 4-0 but rallied for 5 runs on a Gaston RBI double, Cole 2 run triple, run scoring on a wild pitch and a Cruz RBI single. Gaston also added a solo HR in 6th. Fleury went the last 4 innings allowing 1 run as he closed out the 6-5 win.

Note: Fleury has a 3.28 ERA this season.
