Astros Minor League Recap: August 26th

Another day of minor league action is in the books. You can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (57-64) won 8-3 (BOX SCORE)

Costes put Sugar Land on the board in the 2nd inning with a 3 run HR. The offense scored 5 more runs in the 3rd on RBI doubles from Brinson and Lee, a 2 run single from De Goti and an RBI single from Julks. Endersby started for Sugar Land and went 5 innings allowing 1 run. The pen allowed a couple runs but were able to hold on for the 8-3 win.

Note: France has a 3.08 ERA since the beginning of June.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (52-65) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started for the Hooks and allowed 4 runs over 5 innings while striking out 9. The Hooks fell behind 6-0 but got on the board with 4 runs in the 7th on a Wagner 2 run HR, Kessinger solo HR and Salazar RBI single. In the 8th they got another on a double play. Sprinkle pitched two scoreless innings in relief keeping it close but the offense was unable to complete the comeback as the Hooks fell 6-5.

Note: Sprinkle has a 2.20 ERA since July 13th.


A+: Asheville Tourists (52-64) lost 10-9 (BOX SCORE)

Loperfido put Asheville on the board in the first with an RBI single. Gaither started and allowed 1 run over 4 innings with 6 strikeouts. The offense put up 5 runs in the 4th on an Alvarez 3 run triple, a run scoring on an error and a Loperfido RBI double. They got another run in the 5th on a Borden RBI single. Asheville entered the 9th up 7-3 but the Dash tied it at 7. The Tourists got 2 runs in the 10th on RBI doubles from Corona and Daniels. The Dash would tie the game up in the 10th and eventually walk it off in the 11th for the 10-9 win.

Note: Loperfido is hitting .400 with 1.133 OPS in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (48-69) lost 7-1 (BOX SCORE)

Fayetteville got on the board in the first inning on a Melton RBI groundout. Swanson started for the Woodpeckers and was pitching well until the 5th. He ended up allowing 5 runs over 4.2 innings. The pen allowed a couple more runs and the offense was quiet as the Woodpeckers fell 7-1.

Note: Melton has a .860 OPS in Single-A.
