Astros Minor League Recap: July 30th

Another day of minor league action is in the books. You can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (42-56) won 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Solomon started for Sugar Land and tossed 5 no-hit innings. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Hensley RBI double and Siri RBI single. The offense extended their lead on a Julks 2 run HR in the 5th and a Jones 2 run HR in the 6th. Donato closed it out allowing 2 hits over 4 scoreless innings to pick up the save in the 6-0 win.

Note: Hensley has a .398 OBP this season.

  • Chad Donato, RHP: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K (SAVE)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (42-53) won 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first inning on a Dirden solo HR, his 17th of the season. Bravo started for the Hooks and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings of work. In the 3rd, Wagner added a 2 run HR to extend the lead. Diaz connected on an RBI double in the 6th to make it 4-1. In the 7th, Brewer added a sac fly. The Sod Poodles scored 3 runs in the 7th bringing the game closer. In the 9th, the Hooks got some insurance runs on a Brewer 2 run HR. West allowed a run in the 9th but closed it out of seal the 7-5 win.

Note: Dirden has a .994 OPS this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (39-53) POSTPONED

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (41-52) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Salgado started for the Woodpeckers and tossed 4.1 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Calderon pitched out of the pen and allowed 2 runs. The Woodpeckers got on the board in the 7th scoring on a wild pitch. In the 8th, the Woodpeckers took the lead on a 2 run single from Alvarez. Calderon finished off the game as the Woodpeckers won 3-2.

Note: Loperfido has a .872 OPS and 30 SB this season.
