Astros Minor League Recap: July 15th

Another day of minor league action is in the books. You can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Space Cowboys (37-51) lost 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bielak started for Sugar Land and allowed 4 runs over 4 innings. The offense got on the board 6th on a Julks solo HR. In the 8th, they got another run back on a bases loaded walk to Manea. Despite the bullpen tossing 5 scoreless innings, the offense was unable to get anything else going as Sugar Land fell 4-2.

Note: Valdez has a .967 OPS in Triple-A.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (38-47) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks got on the board in the first inning scoring 5 runs with only one hit. The runs came on a Whitcomb sac fly, a wild pitch, a bases loaded walk to Brewer and an Arias 2 run single. Robaina got the start and allowed 3 runs over 4.2 innings. Garcia and Horrell gave up a few more runs as the Naturals took the lead. The offense would pick up a few more hits but were unable to score again as they lost 9-5.

Note: Abreu has a 1.033 OPS in July.


A+: Asheville Tourists (34-49) won 14-8 (BOX SCORE)

Hamilton put the Tourists on the board with a solo HR in the first. They got 3 more runs in the 2nd on a Corona 2 run single and Sandle RBI groundout. In the 3rd, they got 3 more runs on a Stevens RBI double and Stubbs 2 run HR. The offense continued their hitting scoring 3 more runs in the 4th on a Daniels 3 run HR. Kouba started and allowed 2 runs over 5 innings. The offense got 2 more runs in the 6th on another Hamilton solo HR and Sandle RBI single. The offense capped their night with a Correa RBI double and Daniels RBI single in the 8th. The pen allowed a few runs but the offense did more than enough in there 14-8 win.

Note: Hamilton has a 1.085 OPS in July.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (37-46) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Batista started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 6 innings with 9 strikeouts. Both runs came in the last inning of work. The offense was quiet on the day picking up just 3 hits, all singles, as they were shutout in the 2-0 loss.

Note: Batista has 74 K in 66 innings this season.
