Astros Minor League Recap: September 2nd, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (60-43) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Skeeters got on the board in the 2nd inning with an RBI double from De Goti and an RBI single from Rivera. Matijevic added a sac fly in the 5th. Brown got the start and pitched well striking out 6 over 6 innings while allowing just 1 run. Dubin closed it out striking out 5 over 3 scoreless innings to pick up the save.

Note: Dubin has 49 K in 33.2 innings this season.

  • Hunter Brown, RHP: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K (WIN)
  • Shawn Dubin, RHP: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K (SAVE)

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (47-58) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Lawson started for the Hooks and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned over 4 innings. McKenna put the Hooks on the board with an RBI single in the first inning. In the 6th, Hensley tied the game at 2 on an RBI single. After the Naturals took a 3-2 lead, the Hooks tied it again on a Kessinger solo HR. The game would go to extra innings and in the bottom of the 12th the Naturals walked it off with an RBI single to win it.

Note: Hernandez has a 1.76 ERA with 66 K in 51 IP this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (45-56) lost 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tamarez started and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings with 5 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Tourists were no-hit on the night in the 6-0 loss.

Note: Tamarez has 91 K in 63.2 innings this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (48-57) won 6-3 (BOX SCORE)

McDermott got the start and struck out 7 over 3 scoreless innings. He was relieved by Arrighetti who struck out 5 over 2 innings while allowing 1 run. The offense got on the board in the 4th on a Brewer RBI double and Hamilton sac fly. In the 3rd, Wagner added a 3 run HR to stretch the lead. Giron would cap the day with an RBI single in the 6th. Santos closed it out allowing 2 runs over the final 4 innings.

Note: McDermott has 25 K in 11.2 innings this season.
