Astros Minor League Recap: September 11th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (64-47) won 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

The Skeeters jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the first inning on a Dawson RBI single, Butera sac fly, and a Gonzalez RBI single. Bermudez started for the Skeeters and went 5 innings allowing 1 run. In the 3rd, Matijevic connected on a solo HR. The Skeeters blew it open in the 7th scoring 4 runs on a Costes RBI double and Butera 3 run HR. Pena would add a solo HR in the 8th. The bullpen tossed 4 scoreless innings to close it out.

Note: Bermudez has a 3.05 ERA with 128 K in 97.1 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (50-63) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Macuare started for the Hooks and pitched really well tossing 6 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit. The Hooks lone run came on a Julks RBI double in the 5th. Sprinkle tossed 2 scoreless innings and Tejada closed it out with a perfect 9th inning.

Note: Macuare has a 1.80 ERA in AA.


A+: Asheville Tourists (50-59) won 15-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Tourists offense got them game started off well scoring 2 runs in the first inning on Whitcomb and Diaz RBI doubles. They would add another 4 runs in the 3rd on a Whitcomb RBI single, Diaz 2 run HR and Carrasco solo HR. The offense continued the onslaught scoring 4 more in the 4th on solo HRs from Holderbach and Guerrero and a 2 run HR from Stubbs. Lopez got the start and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work. The offense would add 5 more runs in the 8th on bases loaded HBPs by Daniels and Nova, Whitcomb sac fly, and a Stubbs 2 run double. The bullpen was great tossing 4 scoreless to close it.

Note: Diaz is hitting .315 with 15 HR, 82 RBI this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (52-61) won 9-8 (BOX SCORE)

Lopez started for the Woodpeckers but allowed 6 runs in 2.1 innings. Williams put the offense on the board in the 2nd inning with a solo HR. Brewer connected on a 2 run HR in the 5th to cut the lead down. The Woodpeckers would rally though scoring 3 runs in the 7th on two sacrifice flies and a steal of home. In the 8th, the Woodpeckers got 3 more runs on a bases loaded walk to Stevens and an error. DeLabio was able to close it out and get the save.

Note: Brewer is hitting .275 this season.
