Astros Minor League Recap: August 28th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (57-42) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Skeeters got on the board first with Dawsons scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning. Bermudez got the start and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned and striking out 6. In the 5th, the Skeeters took the lead getting a solo HR from Shaver and Hinojosa RBI single. They got another run in the 6th on a De Goti sac fly. Conine closed it out allowed 1 run over the final 4 innings.

Note: Bermudez has 119 K in 87.1 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (45-56) won 8-5 (BOX SCORE)

The Hooks jumped out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the first inning on a Schreiber RBI double, Hensley RBI single and Barefoot 2 run double. They scored 3 more in the 3rd inning on a Julks 3 run HR. Lawson got the start and went 4 innings allowing 4 runs. Endersby relieved Lawson and went 4 innings allowing 1 run. Conn closed it out picking up the save.

Note: Julks has 8 HR in August.


A+: Asheville Tourists (42-54) lost 12-5 (BOX SCORE)

Jimenez started and allowed 7 runs in 3.1 innings. Whitcomb put the Tourists on the 2nd inning with a 2 run double. The Tourists got another run in the 4th on a Dirden bases loaded walk. The bullpen struggled allowing 5 runs. Correa drove in a run in the 8th with an RBI single. The Tourists got one more in the 9th on a Diaz sac fly but it wasn’t enough as they lost 12-5.

Note: Correa is hitting .356 in High-A.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (45-56) lost 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Brown started for the Woodpeckers and allowed 3 runs over 4.2 innings. The offense was quiet picking up just 1 run in the 6th on a Loperfido RBI groundout. Betances went the final 3.2 innings allowing 2 unearned runs. The offense was unable to get anything else going as they lost 5-1.

AV: Danny Cody (7.38 ERA) – 12:05 CT
