Astros Minor League Recap: August 20th, 2021
Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.
AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (51-40) won 12-7 (BOX SCORE)
The Skeeters jumped out to a nice lead getting 4 runs in the 2nd on a De Goti RBI double, Bregman bases loaded HBP and Dawson 2 run double. In the 3rd, Bregman added a 3 run HR. Papierski connected on a solo HR in the 5th to extend the lead. The offense wasn’t done though getting solo HRs from Dawson and Shaver in the 6th and 7th. In the 8th inning, the Skeeters picked up 2 more runs on a Garcia solo HR and Papierski RBI single. Brown got the start and went 5.2 innings allowing 6 runs while striking out 7. The bullpen was able to hold on for the win.
Note: Dawson is hitting .328 in August.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (43-51) lost 5-0 (BOX SCORE)
Daniels got the start but got roughed up a bit allowing 5 runs in 4 innings of work. The offense struggled picking up just 6 hits on the night as they were shutout in the 5-0 loss.
Note: Julks is hitting .324 with 6 2B, 6 HR in August.

A+: Asheville Tourists (40-51) won 9-3 (BOX SCORE)
Jimenez got the start and pitched well going 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Stubbs put the Tourists on the board in the 4th with a 3 run HR. In the 6th the Tourists put up 4 more runs on a Dirden sac fly, Stubbs 2 run double and Santana RBI single. Diaz would add a solo HR in the 9th. Garcia closed it out with 2 scoreless innings.
Note: Correa is hitting .320 overall this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (41-52) won 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
Gomez started this one for the Woodpeckers and pitched really well allowing 1 run over 6 innings while striking out 8. The offense got on the board in the first on a Williams RBI single. In the 3rd, they got another run on another Williams RBI single. Perry added some insurance with an RBI double in the 6th. Betances picked up the save tossing a scoreless inning to close it.
Note: Perry has 12 2B in 39 games this season.
