Astros Trade Myles Straw, Call-Up Jake Meyers
Today was insane. A ton of trades happened all around baseball. The Astros got into the action trading Myles Straw to the Indians for reliever Phil Maton and catching prospect Yainer Diaz.

Maton has been with the Indians since 2019. Despite a higher ERA this season (4.57) he has struck out 61 in 41 innings, something the Astros definitely needed. He does have a 3.13 FIP this season after posting a 2.22 FIP in 2020. He will join a new and improved pen with Yimi Garcia and Kendall Graveman.
In the deal they also acquired Yainer Diaz. Diaz is from the Dominican Republic and has been with the Indians since 2017. The 22 year old catching is slashing .314/.357/.464 with 19 2B, 5 HR this season.
In a corresponding move, the Astros called up hot hitting prospect, Jake Meyers

Meyers has put together a phenomenal season slashing .343/.408/.598 with 17 2B, 16 HR, 10 SB and a 144 wRC+ in AAA. Meyers is also a very good defensive outfielder. You can check out my interview with him here. Also, here is a clip of Meyers.
