Astros Minor League Recap: July 14th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (34-25) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (27-35) won 3-2 (BOX SCORE)

Brown started and pitched well allowing 1 run in 4 innings while picking up 8 strikeouts. The Hooks got 2 runs in the 4th on a Costes RBI single and Adams sac fly. Olzcak tossed a scoreless inning before giving way to Record who went 4 innings allowing 1 run. The game would move to extra innings and in the bottom of the 10th, Lee walked it off with an RBI single for the 3-2 win.

Note: Brown has 54 K in 30.1 innings over his last 7 outings.


A+: Asheville Tourists (27-34) lost 6-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bravo got the start last night and went 5 innings allowing 4 runs, 3 earned. He was relieved by Lopez who allowed 2 runs over 3.1 innings. The offense was quiet though as they picked up just 6 hits and were shutout in the 6-0 loss.

Note: Whitcomb has 19 SB in 51 games this season.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (26-35) lost 7-4 (BOX SCORE)

Perry put the Woodpeckers on the board in the first inning with a 2 run HR. Taveras started for Fayetteville and allowed 5 runs, 2 earned, in 1.2 innings. In the 3rd Perry added a sac fly and then in the 5th he connected on a solo HR, his 2nd HR of the night. Betances relieved Taveras and allowed 1 run over 2.1 innings. Santos pitched 4 innings in relief allowing 1 run and struck out 5. The offense loaded the bases in the 9th but failed to score as they lost 7-4.

Note: Berryhill is hitting .361 with 4 HR, 15 RBI in July.
