Astros Minor League Recap: May 9th, 2021
Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.
AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (3-1) lost 6-4 (BOX SCORE)
Hartman got the start for the Skeeters in this one. He struggled some though allowed 5 runs in 5 innings. Jones put Sugar Land on the board in the 3rd inning with a 2 run HR, his first of the season. McKee tossed two scoreless innings before Blanco allowed a run in the 8th. The Skeeters rallied for 2 runs in the 9th on a Jones 2 run double, but that was all they would get as they dropped this one 6-4.
Note: Jones has a 1.841 OPS in 3 games.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (2-4) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)
Donato made his second start of the season and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 4 innings of work. The Hooks put a 5 spot on the Missions in the 4th on a Kessinger RBI single and Manea grand slam to go up 5-1. Unfortunately, Rosado relieved Donato and allowed 4 runs in 3 innings and Collado allowed 2 more. The offense was unable to get anything else going and the Hooks lost 7-5.
Note: Donato has 9 K in 7 IP this season.

A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (1-5) lost 8-5 (BOX SCORE)
Tamarez got the start for the Woodpeckers and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings. Fayetteville got two runs back in the third on solo HRs from Daniels and Barefoot. After a scoreless inning from Garcia, Gomez came in and allowed 6 runs in 2.1 innings. Ramirez connected on a solo HR in the 6th and then Whitcomb had a 2 run single in the 7th but it wasn’t enough as the Woodpeckers dropped this one, 8-5.
Note: Whitcomb is hitting .389 in 4 games this season.
