Astros Minor League Recap: May 14th, 2021

Another day of minor league baseball is in the books and you can see all the Astros affiliates results below.

AAA: Sugar Land Skeeters (7-1) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Conine was on the bump for the Skeeters last night and pitched well again tossing 5 scoreless innings. The offense got on the board ninth first inning on a Quintana RBI single. In the second, the Skeeters got solo homers from Hinojosa and Sierra to make it 3-0. Siri added some insurance in the 7th with a 2 run single. Scheetz, Velasquez and Blanco all had scoreless outings in relief. Eades allowed 1 run in his 1 inning but the Skeeters won 5-1.

Note: Conine has a 0.84 ERA through 2 starts this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (4-6) 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Daniels started for the Hooks and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, while striking out 8. Leon put the Hooks on the board in the 6th inning with a 2 run HR, his first of the season. DeJuneas pitched in relief of Daniels and tossed 4 innings allowing just 1 run. The Hooks tied the game up at 3 in the 8th on a passed ball. The game went to extras and the Hooks scored 2 in the 10th on Hensley and Shaver RBI singles. Unfortunately, the RoughRiders picked up 2 in the bottom of the 10th to tie it. Adolph gave the Hooks the lead in the top of the 11th with an RBI single. Collado was able to close it out in the bottom of the 11th.

Note: Daniels has 15 K in 10.2 innings this season.


A+: Asheville Tourists (4-5) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Freure got the start and had another good outing tossing 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the offense really struggled last night racking up just 6 hits, all singles, and was unable to score any runs. Brown relieved Freure and struck out 6 over 3 innings but allowed one run and that was the difference in the game.

Note: Freure has a 1.23 ERA with 12 K in 7.1 innings.


A: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (5-5) won 5-0 (BOX SCORE)

Schroeder got the start for the Woodpeckers and pitched well tossing 4 no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts (3 walks). Jaquez tossed 1 scoreless inning following Schroeder. The offense got on the board in the 5th scoring 4 runs on a Corona RBI double, Daniels RBI single, Barefoot RBI double, and a run scoring on a passed ball. They got another run in the 6th on a Corona solo HR. Macuare came onto pitch in the 6th, at which point the Cannon Ballers still didn’t have a hit. Well Macuare dominated striking out 7 over 4 hitless innings as he, Schroeder and Jaquez tossed a combined no-hitter in the win.

Note: Macuare has a 1.17 ERA with 12 K in 7.2 innings.
