Astros Minor League Recap: July 8th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (52-38) OFF

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (41-46) lost 14-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rough games for the Hooks. Javier had his first bad outing in AA allowing 3 runs over just 1.2 innings. He was relieved by Collado who allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of work. DeJuneas came in later and allowed 6 runs in 1 inning. Shaver drove in the only run for the Hooks on an RBI single in the 5th inning. Two position players pitched, that’s how bad it was.

Note: Shaver is hitting .271 with 15 RBI in 14 AA games.

A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (40-47) POSTPONED

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (53-30) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Tejada started for the River Bandits and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings, but walked 6. Rodriguez put the River Bandits on the board with a solo HR in the first. Kessinger added an RBI single in the 3rd. McKenna connected on a solo HR in the 4th, his first of the season. Salazar added some insurance with a 2 run double in the 7th. Unfortunately, the bullpen blew it and allowed the Kernels to comeback and win with 4 runs in the 9th.

Note: Salazar is hitting .433 over his last 10 games.
