Astros Minor League Recap: July 7th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (52-38) won 11-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bielak started for the Express and continued his nice streak of outings. He went 6 innings allowing just 1 run while striking out 8. De Goti put Round Rock on the board in the 3rd with a 2 run single. In the 4th, the Express blew it open with 8 runs on a Ritchie RBI single, Rojas RBI single, Mayfield RBI double, Jones 3 run HR, and a couple runs scoring on an error. Jones would add an RBI double in the 8th for the 11th run.

Note: Bielak has a 1.80 ERA over his last four starts.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (41-45) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bailey started for the Hooks but only last 3 innings, though they were shutout innings. After two scoreless innings from Sanabria, Abreu took over. He went 3 innings allowing 2 runs. The Hooks entered the 8th down 2-0 but got solo HRs from Quintana and Dawson to tie it at 2. In the bottom of the 9th, the Hooks loaded the bases for Quintana and sent the team home happy with a walk-off grand slam.

Note: Quintana is hitting .339 with 8 HR, 28 RBI in 31 AA games this season.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (40-47) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

The Woodpeckers got on the board in the first inning when Pena hit a triple and scored on a Taylor RBI single. Garcia got the start and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs with 7 strikeouts. The Woodpeckers got their second run in the 3rd on an Arauz sac fly. Potomac took a 3-2 lead but Adolph tied it with a solo HR in the 7th. Potomac was able to walk it off in the bottom of the 9th though as the Woodpeckers lost 4-3.

Note: Garcia has 96 K in 67 innings this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (53-29) lost 5-2 (BOX SCORE)

Bravo got the start and allowed 3 runs over 5.2 innings while striking out 6. The River Bandits picked up their first run in the 4th on a Machado RBI groundout. They got another in the 8th on a Nova RBI groundout. The offense was unable to get anything else going as they dropped this one 5-2.

Note: Campos is hitting .368 over his last 10 games.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (7-14) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)
