Astros Minor League Recap: July 22nd, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (58-42) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (47-53) lost 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Donato started for the Hooks and went 4.2 innings allowing 3 runs, 1 earned. The Hooks got their first run in the 3rd inning on a Beer RBI groundout. In the 4th, Robinson added a solo HR to make it 3-2. The Hooks offense was unable to get anything else going and the Cardinals played add on as the Hooks lost 6-2.

Note: Donato has a 2.53 ERA in 21.1 innings in AA.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (46-55) won 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Hansen started for the Woodpeckers and tossed 2 shutout innings before being pulled after a rain delay. The Woodpeckers jumped out to an early lead on a Pena solo HR in the first. In the 3rd, they scored 5 more runs on a Pena RBI single, Meyers 2 run double, Adams RBI single, and Valdez RBI double. Potomac started a comeback scoring 4 in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th. Pena added a sac fly in the 6th to make it 7-5. Rosado closed it out with 2.2 scoreless innings.

Note: Pena is hitting .359 with 8 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (60-35) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Bermudez got the start and tossed 6 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. The River Bandits lone run came on a Dennis sac fly in the 4th. That’s all they needed though as Martin and Gayle both had scoreless outings in relief to close it.

Note: Rodriguez has 9 BB/7 SO and 4 SB over his last 10 games.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (14-21) won 4-2 (BOX SCORE)

Note: Battenfield has a 1.29 ERA with 23 K in 21 inning this season.
