Astros Minor League Recap: July 15th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (55-40) lost 8-6 (BOX SCORE)

Urquidy got the start and struggled a bit allowing 8 runs over 5 innings of work. Tanielu put the Express on the board with a 2 run HR in the 2nd inning. They scored 4 more runs in 3rd on a Jones RBI single, Ferguson RBI single, and Tucker 2 run double. The Redbirds took the lead in the 5th and never looked back. Garza tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief but the offense was unable to get anything else going.

Note: Urquidy has 16 BB/109 K in 81.2 innings this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (44-49) OFF


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (43-51) lost 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Hansen started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well allowing 1 run over 5 innings pitched. He was relieved by Rodriguez who allowed 2 runs in 3 innings. The offense really struggled on the night picking up just 3 hits, all singles on the night as they lost 3-0.

Note: Hansen has a 2.25 ERA with 92 K in 72 innings this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (57-32) won 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Tejada started for the River Bandits and struck out 7 over 7 innings while allowing 2 runs. Quad Cities fell behind 2-0 but got 1 run back in the 7th on a Machado RBI single. In the 8th, Rodriguez tied the game with a solo HR. The game went to extras and the River Bandits scored 2 runs in the 10th on a Campos RBI single and another run scoring on an error. Henderson allowed a run in the bottom of the 10th but Cabral was able to come on and retire the last batter for the save.

Note: Tejada has a 2.72 ERA over his last 10 outings.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (12-17) lost 14-10 (BOX SCORE)

Note: Perry is hitting .343 with 3 HR, 8 RBI over his last 10 games.
