Astros Minor League Recap: May 26th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (29-20) lost 9-5 (BOX SCORE)

Armenteros got the start for the Express and did not pitch well lasting just 3.2 innings while allowing 9 hits and 5 runs. Tucker did put the Express on the board with a solo HR in the 4th, his 16th HR of the season. They scored 4 more runs in the 6th on an Alvarez sac fly and Ferguson and Jones RBI singles. Altuve made a rehab start and went 1-for-5. The offense was unable to complete the comeback falling 9-5.

Note: Tucker has 5 HR, 8 RBI over his last 7 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (25-24) won 9-1 (BOX SCORE)

Javier got the start and went 4.2 no-hit innings, striking out 6. He was relieved by Abreu who went 3.1 innings allowing 1 run with 5 strikeouts. The Hooks took a commanding lead in the first scoring 5 runs on a Toro RBI single, Beer 3 run HR and Robinson RBI single. In the 2nd, Rojas added a solo HR, his 6th of the season. The Hooks picked up 2 more in the 5th on a Goetzman RBI double and Duarte RBI single. Rojas would add another solo HR in the 8th, his 6th HR in the last 6 games. Ferrell tossed a perfect 9th to close it out.

Note: Rojas is hitting .477 with 6 HR, 8 RBI over his last 10 games.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (23-27) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Dubin put together one of his best starts in High-A yesterday going 5 innings while allowing just 1 run and striking out 4. He was relieved by Conine who allowed 1 run over his 3 innings of work. The Woodpeckers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 3rd thanks to a Meyers 2 run double and Arauz RBI double. Arauz added a 2 run HR in the 5th to make it 5-1. Costes provided another insurance run in the 6th with an RBI single. Duncan pitched a perfect 9th to seal the win.

Note: Arauz is hitting .500 with 10 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (31-15) won 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

The River Bandits just keep on rolling. The offense got on the board in the 2nd inning scoring 3 runs on a Lacroix RBI double, Dawson RBI single, and another run scoring on an error. In the 3rd inning they scored 2 more runs on a Salazar RBI single and Hensley sac fly. The continued to add on scoring 3 more in the 4th on an Adolph 2 run single and a Pena sac fly. Garcia started and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned over 5 innings. Tejada and Castellanos had scoreless outings to close it out.

Note: Pena is hitting .354 with 4 2B, 3 3B, 3 HR, 16 RBI during the month of May.
