Astros Minor League Recap: April 5th, 2019

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (0-1) lost 2-1 (BOX SCORE)

Rough opener for the Express. They managed just one hit and one baserunner on the night, a Mayfield solo HR in the 9th. The offense combined to strikeout 17 times. Rodgers got the start and while he allowed some baserunners, he struck out 5 over 5 scoreless innings. Sneed relieved him and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned over his 2.1 innings of work.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (1-1) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Adcock got the start and was solid the first 2 innings but ended up allowing 5 runs in the 3rd as he was unable to finish the inning. The offense battled back scoring 4 in the 3rd on a Goetzman 2 run single, Toro RBI double, and Rojas Rbi single. Scheetz was solid in mid relief striking out 2. LaRue made his AA debut and went 5 innings allowing 2 runs with 6 strikeouts. Matijevic would add a sac fly in the 7th but the Hooks dropped this one 7-5.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (1-0) POSTPONED

Postponed due to rain.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (1-0) POSTPONED

Postponed due to wet grounds.
