Astros Minor League Recap: April 21st, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (10-7) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)

Whitley got the start and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 4.2 innings. The Express first got on the board in the 4th inning on an Alvarez solo HR, his 9th HR of the season. The Express went into the 8th down 3-1 but tied it on a Stubbs solo HR and Alvarez RBI double. Sneed relieved Whitley and was solid at first, but allowed a 2 run walk-off HR in the 10th inning.

Note: Alvarez has 5 HR, 17 RBI over his last 10 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (8-9) OFF


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (10-8) lost 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Mushinski got the start and pitched very well striking out 9 over 4 innings while allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. Manea got the scoring started for the Woodpeckers with an RBI single in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd, Meyers added an RBI single to tie it. Gonzalez relieved Mushinski and didn’t fare well as he allowed 4 runs over 2.1 innings. The Woodpeckers attempted a comeback getting a solo HR in the 5th and a Julks RBI single in the 7th. They entered the bottom of the 9th down 6-4. Shaver added a solo HR to make it 6-5 but they weren’t able to score again and lost 6-5.

Note: Mushinski has 22 K in 14.1 innings this season.
