Astros Minor League Recap: April 18th, 2019

Another day of minor league action in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Round Rock Express (9-5) SUSPENDED


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (7-8) lost 8-4 (BOX SCORE)

Bukauskas got the start for the Hooks and struggled once again. He lasted just 2.1 innings allowing 6 runs while walking 5. His ERA sits at 19.13 after three starts. The offense scored 3 runs in the 3rd on a Goetzman RBI double and Rojas 2 run single. They scored another in the 5th on a Toro sac fly. Daniels relieved Bukauskas and allowed 2 runs over 4.2 innings. The offense was unable to mount a comeback though.

Note: Rojas is hitting .325 with 13 RBI in 11 games this season.


A+: Fayetteville Woodpeckers (8-7) lost 7-5 (BOX SCORE)

Paredes started for the Woodpeckers and pitched well striking out 9 over 4 innings while allowing just 1 run. They got on the board in the 4th inning on a Beer solo HR, his 2nd, and a Meyers RBI double. The bullpen struggled though with Martin and Rodriguez allowing 2 runs each. The Woodpeckers would tie it though getting 2 in the 7th on a Shaver solo HR and Sierra RBI single and 1 in the 8th on a Arauz RBI double. Unfortunately, the Mudcats picked up 2 in the 9th and the Woodpeckers were unable to respond.

Note: Beer is hitting .357 with 2 HR, 12 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (7-6) lost 2-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night for the River Bandits offense. They managed just 3 hits, and the first didn’t come until the 6th inning. Nivaldo started and was solid allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. He was relieved by Freure who dominated in relief striking out 9 over 3.2 scoreless innings. The offense was unable to get the bats going and fell 2-0.

Note: Freure has 20 K in 10.1 IP with a 0.87 ERA this season.
