Astros Place Five Prospects on Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus Lists
Today two of the top prospect sites released their top 100 (Baseball America) and top 101 (Baseball Prospectus) prospects. The Astros fared well on both lists landing five prospects on each, though they weren’t the same five. Check them out below.
Baseball America:
Forrest Whitley #5
Kyle Tucker #12
Yordan Alvarez #34
Josh James #77
Corbin Martin #78
Nice group of prospects here with Whitley leading the way. Really encouraging to see Alvarez ranked so high. He is just 21 years old and should be starting back in AAA. James saw a huge rise going from unranked all the way to #77 and should be a big contributor this season for the Astros. Corbin Martin also getting some love following his first full season in the Astros system. Here is a link to their top prospects: Baseball America Top 100
Baseball Prospectus
Forrest Whitley #7
Kyle Tucker #14
Josh James #46
Yordan Alvarez #49
JB Bukauskas #80
Just like BA, Whitley and Tucker lead the way. Baseball Prospectus really put James up on their list, and for good reason. We saw the kind of stuff he had last year. Alvarez in the top 50 on both is a great sign. While they didn’t have Corbin Martin in the top 100, they had another 2017 draftee there with Bukauskas coming in at #80. Once he got healthy last year, he dominated and carried it into winter ball. He could make a huge leap in 2019. Here is a link to their list: Baseball Prospectus Top 101
