Astros Minor League Recap: June 15th, 2018

Another day of minor league baseball in the books. See the results below.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (40-27) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)

Hauschild started for Fresno last night and was solid turning in five scoreless innings. Reed got the Grizzlies on the board with a solo HR in the 2nd inning, his 17th of the season. Fresno picked up another run in the 7th on a Mayfield RBI single. The Grizzlies entered the 8th up 2-1 but Tucker added some insurance with a 3 run double. Hoyt closed it out with a scoreless 9th.

Note: Tucker is hitting .405 with 6 RBI, 4 SB over his last 9 games.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (41-26) won 6-2 (BOX SCORE)

Martin started for the Hooks last night and continued his streak of hot pitching as he went 5.2 innings allowing just 1 run. The offense got the scoring started on a Jones RBI groundout in the 3rd. De Goti added an RBI single in the 4th to make it 2-0. The Hooks blew the game open in the 5th scoring 4 runs on a Ritchie RBI single, Wrenn RBI single, and 2 run double from De Goti. Winkelman tossed a scoreless 9th inning to seal the win.

Note: Martin has a 1.86 ERA and allowing just 34 hits in 58 innings this season.


A+: Buies Creek Astros (36-31) lost 4-0 (BOX SCORE)

Another rough night for the offense has they got shutout again and managed just one extra base hit, a Toro double in the first inning. LaRue worked 6 innings allowing 3 runs. He was relieved by Bielak who allowed 1 run over 2 innings of work.

Note: Bielak has 17 BB/72 K in 52.2 innings this season.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (38-30) won 3-0 (BOX SCORE)

Sandoval started for Quad Cities and struck out 7 over 4 scoreless innings before being pulled. He was relieved by Peter Solomon who tossed 3 scoreless innings himself. Shaver continued driving in runs getting the River Bandits on the board in the first inning with an RBI single. De La Cruz added an RBI triple in the 6th and scored on an error to make it 3-0. Castellanos closed it out with 2 scoreless innings.

Note: Sandoval has a 1.15 ERA with 57 K in 47 innings over his last 10 outings.


A-: Tri-City ValleyCats (1-0) won 11-1 (BOX SCORE)

Note: Beer has a 2.100 OPS this season (hard to take away much from 1 game…..)
