Astros Minor League Recap: June 7th, 2017
Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (28-32) won 6-5 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on a White 2 run HR in the first inning. In the 3rd inning, Fisher continued his hot hitting with a solo HR to center, his 15th HR of the season. Fisher also has 40 RBI in 55 games. Teoscar added a solo HR himself in the 4th inning, his 5th HR of the season.
Coleman got the start after Martes was scratched and pitcher well again. He went 5.2 innings allowing just 2 runs. He left with the lead but the bullpen allowed 3 runs to Sacramento in the 8th. Fresno entered the 9th inning down 5-4 but rallied getting an RBI single from White to tie it at 5, and an RBI single from Tucker to take a 6-5 lead. Comer, who got 1 out in the 8th, pitched a scoreless 9th to close it.
Note: Tucker has 4 HR, 11 RBI over his last 10 games.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (29-29) lost 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
James got the start last night for the Hooks and pitched well going 5 innings allowing 2 unearned runs with 1 walk to 6 strikeouts. His season ERA now sits at 2.16. Corpus fell behind 3-0 but finally got on the board in the 8th inning on a Mayfield solo HR.
Armenteros relieved James and had a tough outing allowing 2 runs over 4 innings with 3 walks. Corpus entered the 9th down 4-1 and would put together a little rally. With 2 out and 2 on, Tucker hit a 2 run double to center to make it 4-3. This was his 2nd double of the night and 5th double in 8 games for Corpus. Unfortunately, Davis struck out swinging with Tucker on 2nd and the Hooks fell 4-3.
Note: Ferguson has drawn 29 walks in 52 games and has a .412 OBP this season.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (30-27) won 10-3 (BOX SCORE)
Alvarez has been on fire recently and he wasn’t stopping last night. Quad Cities fell behind 1-0 in the first but responded with 3 runs in the 2nd inning on a Dawson solo HR (his 5th) and a Franco 2 run HR (his 3rd). In the 3rd inning, Alvarez continued his hot streak crushing a solo HR to left center field. In the 5th inning, Alvarez was at it again, this time a 3 run shot to left center field. He is hitting .413 this season with 6 2B, 5 HR, 20 RBI in 21 games!
The River Bandits got another great start from LaRue. He went 7 innings allowing just 2 runs with 7 strikeouts. He now has a 2.18 ERA in 57.2 innings this season. Dawson added to his big night in the 7th inning with a 2 run double giving him 3 RBI in the game. Jones capped off the scoring with a solo HR in the 8th inning.
Note: LaRue has allowed just 36 hits with 18 BB/54 K in 57.2 innings this season.
