Astros Minor League Recap: June 26th, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (39-38) won 7-6 (BOX SCORE)

Back and forth game in Fresno last night. Martinez was on the mound to start it and pitched very well allowing just 1 run over 6 innings with 7 strikeouts. Fresno first got on the board in the 5th inning on a 2 run HR from Stassi. Albuquerque tied it up in the 7th but Fresno retook the lead on a White RBI single and a run scoring on an error. Fresno got 2 more in the 8th on a Moran solo HR, his 17th, and a Kemp sac fly. The Grizzlies entered the 9th up 6-2 but the bullpen struggled allowing Albuquerque to score 4 runs and tie it. The game went to the 10th where White won it with a walk off, bases loaded walk.

Note: White is hitting .452 with 4 HR, 13 RBI over his last 10 games


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (38-38) OFF


A+: Buies Creek Astros (39-36) won 8-1 (BOX SCORE)

Pitching was great in this one. Alcala got the start and tossed 5 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts and reports he hit 100 MPH with his fastball multiple times. Perez relieved him and pitched well too allowing 1 run over 4 innings with 5 strikeouts. The offense got on the board in the 3rd on a Sierra solo HR, Rogers RBI single, and Alvarez sac fly. They put up 4 more runs in the 6th with 1 run scoring on an error and a 3 run triple from Birk. Birk added an RBI groundout in the 8th to cap the scoring and give him 4 RBI.

Note: Birk is hitting .333 with 8 RBI over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (40-33) won 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

Cionel Perez got the start in this one and went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs with 7 strikeouts. The offense went to work early scoring 2 runs in the 2nd on a Franco 2 run double and 2 runs in the 3rd on a Cameron RBI single and Sieber RBI double. They would add another in the 4th on a Henderson sac fly and another in the 5th on Sieber RBI single. The pitching was solid after Perez with Saldana going 3.2 scoreless innings and Montano tossing a scoreless inning to close it.

Note: De La Cruz is hitting .357 with 2 RBI in 4 games for Quad Cities
