Astros Minor League Recap: June 12th, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (30-33) OFF


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (30-33) lost 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Armenteros was on the mound for the Hooks last night and pitched well allowing 2 runs over 5.2 innings pitched with 6 strikeouts. Corpus got on the board first on a Singleton sac fly in the first inning. After falling behind 2-1, Corpus tied the game in the 6th on a Davis RBI single. In the 8th, Davis came through with another RBI single to give the Hooks a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately, the bullpen struggled giving up 5 runs in the 8th as Corpus fell 7-3.

Note: Martin is hitting .316 with 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI in 10 games for Corpus


A+: Buies Creek Astros (34-30) lost 12-4 (BOX SCORE)

Adcock got the start last night and only lasted three innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned with 3 walks to 3 strikeouts. Brey relieved him and got roughed up giving up 8 runs (3 earned) in just 1 inning. Buies Creek took a lead temporarily in the 3rd with 3 runs on a McCall solo HR, Birk RBI single, and Wrenn sac fly. The offense got one more in the 7th with a run scoring on a wild pitch but that is all they would get. Hartman tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief though.

Note: Straw is hitting .452 with 7 RBI, 8 BB over his last 10 games.


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (33-29) lost 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Tough game for the Quad Cities offense. Blanco got the start last night and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 4.2 innings pitched, though he did have 4 BB/5 K. The offense struggled though managing just 2 hits and 4 walks. Both hits were doubles, one by Almonte and one by Benedetti. Ramirez tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in relief but the offense couldn’t get anything going.

Note: Benedetti is hitting .273 with a .416 OBP in 38 games.
