Astros Minor League Recap: May 27th, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (20-30) lost 11-6 (BOX SCORE)

The pitching woes continued for Fresno last night. Coleman got roughed up again giving up 7 runs in 6.2 innings. His ERA is now at 6.67. Albuquerque would tie the game in the 5th. Fresno re-gained the lead in the 6th on a Fisher RBI double. Fisher finished the night 3-for-5 bringing his average to .323 with a .933 OPS. Holmes relieved Coleman in the 7th inning but gave up 4 runs himself in the 8th. Fresno was unable to put anything else together offensively and fell 11-6.

Note: Fisher is hitting .349 over his last 10 games

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (26-23) won 1-0 (BOX SCORE)

Interesting game last night in Corpus. They were out hit 10-4 but somehow managed to win 1-0. Bostick got the start and pitched well going 5 scoreless innings while allowing 7 hits with 3 strikeouts. He lowered his ERA in Corpus to 2.76 and his overall ERA this season to 2.27. The Hooks’ lone run came on a bases loaded walk to Singleton in the 3rd inning.

Smith relieved Bostick and was dominant tossing the final 4 innings without allowing a run and striking out 7. Smith has been on a roll recently. His last four outings: 20 IP, 17 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 21 K. Ferguson’s hit streak was snapped at 23 games but he still managed to walk twice and throw out a runner at home in the 5th inning.
