Astros Minor League Recap: May 23rd, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (18-28) lost 9-0 (BOX SCORE)

Back to back games the Fresno offense has been shutout. The offense collected 6 hits last night, including a double from Stassi and Brignac. White and Fisher both went 2-for-4. Paulino got the start last night but had a rough couple first innings. He allowed 5 runs, all in the first two innings. He finished going 5 innings with 3 BB/3 K. Perez had a scoreless outing in relief for Fresno.

Note: Fisher is now hitting .320 this season.


AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (22-22) POSTPONED


A+: Buies Creek Astros (27-18) POSTPONED


A: Quad Cities River Bandits (22-21) won 11-1 (BOX SCORE)

Quad Cities has started to play better recently, and have dominated their opponent the last two nights. Valdez was on the mound last night and pitched well allowing just 1 run over 4.2 innings with 7 strikeouts. Alvarez got the scoring started with a 2 run HR in the first inning, his 2nd HR of the season. The River Bandits exploded for 4 runs in the 2nd on a Duarte solo HR, Wrenn RBI single, and a Ayarza 2 run single. Pinales tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief and Montano struck out 3 over the final 1.1 inning. Ayarza added a 2 run double in the 6th. In the 7th, Franco had a 2 run triple and Wrenn drove him in with an RBI single. This was more than enough for the win.

Note: Ayarza is hitting .375 with 3 HR, 15 RBI and 3 BB/1 K over his last 10 games.
