Astros Minor League Recap: May 11th, 2017
Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (14-20) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Fresno jumped out to an early lead in this one on a sac fly fron White in the first innng. In the 2nd inning, they scored 3 time on an RBI single from Kemp and a 2 run single from Tucker. Paulino made his return to the mound and tossed 3 shutout innings. Martinez relieved him and allowed 3 solo HR in 3 innings. Fresno added another run in the 6th on a Kemp RBI groundout. Comer and Jankowski closed the game out with scoreless outings.
Note: Tucker has 26 RBI in 30 games this season.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (15-18) lost 3-1 (BOX SCORE)
Another loss making it 8 straight losses for Corpus. Smith was on the mound and was fantastic tossing 6 shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. Corpus scored their only run in the 4th inning on an RBI double from Garcia. Midland battled against the bullpen though with Peterson allowing 2 runs and Ferrell giving up 1 run. Corpus went down in order in the 9th, losing their 8th straight game.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (20-14) lost 10-8 (BOX SCORE)
Adcock made his Buies Creek debut last night and it didn’t go well as he allowed 7 runs in 3.1 innings. Going into the bottom of the 4th the Astros were down 7-0 but battled and got 3 runs on a de Oleo RBI single, Hermelyn RBI single and another run scoring on a passed ball. Buies Creek would then go down 10-3 but continued battling getting 2 in the 6th on a Birk sac fly and Sewald RBI double. They would scratch off a run in the 7th, 8th, and 9th on a Tucker RBI double, Hermelyn RBI single and McCall RBI groundout but it wasn’t enough.
Note: Tucker has 23 XBH in 32 games this season.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (16-16) lost 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Whitley got the start for the River Bandits and while he struggled early (4 runs in 2 innings) he tossed three scoreless after. He finished with 1 BB/6 K. Rogers continued his nice start to the season with a solo HR in the first inning, his 6th HR of the season. In the 2nd inning, Jones added an RBI single to make it 3-2. Ayarza came through with an RBI single in the 7th to make it 4-3. Pinales was solid allowing just 1 run over 3 innings. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t get anything going in the 8th or 9th and lost 5-3.
