Astros Minor League Recap: April 24th

Astros Minor League Recap: April 24th, 2017

Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (9-10) lost 12-9 (BOX SCORE)

Interesting game in Fresno last night. Yuhl was on the mound and got roughed up allowing 9 runs, 8 earned over 4 innings of work. Before Fresno could even score, they were in a 9-0 hole. Moran got Fresno on the board with a solo HR in the 4th inning. Reed added a 2 run single in the 5th to make it 9-3. Salt Lake added 3 more in the 8th to make it 12-3. Fresno continued to battle though with a Moran 2 run single and a Brignace RBI groundout in the 8th. Aplin pitched a scoreless 9th, his third career relief appearance. In the 9th they got an RBI single from Reed and a 2 run HR from White but that is all as they fell 12-9.

Note: Moran has 3 HR, 11 RBI over his last 10 games.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (10-7) lost 9-0 (BOX SCORE)

Rough night for the offense as they only managed two hits on the night. Smith got the start and ran into some trouble. He ended up allowing 4 runs, 3 earned over 4.1 innings. The bullpen didn’t do much better as Peterson allowed 2 runs and Dorris allowed 3 runs. The offense only produced two single, which both came in the 2nd inning. They will give it another go tomorrow with Deetz on the mound.

Note: After a slow start, Ferguson is up to .286 with 9 RBI in 16 games.

A+: Buies Creek Astros (12-6) OFF

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (10-8) won 14-4 (BOX SCORE)

Another blowout win for Quad Cities. Perez got the start in this one allowing 1 run over his 4.1 innings of work (4 BB/4 K). Rogers got the game started off with a bang connecting on a 2 run HR in the first inning, his 3rd of the season. Henderson hit a solo HR in the 2nd, his first of the year. In the 3rd inning, the River Bandits put up 6 runs on a Wrenn RBI single, Ayarza RBI single (with two more scoring on an error), and another Henderson HR, this time a 2 run shot. In the 6th inning they could get 4 more runs on a Cameron RBI single, a run on a wild pitch, and a Dawson 2 run single. Hartman allowed 2 runs in 3.2 innings in relief but the offense put up enough runs to make it an easy win.

Note: Rogers is hitting .417 with 3 HR, 7 RBI over his last 6 games.

FRE: TBD

CC: Dean Deetz (1.04 ERA)
