Astros Minor League Recap: April 24th, 2017
Another day of baseball in the books. See how the teams and prospects performed in their games last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (9-10) lost 12-9 (BOX SCORE)
Interesting game in Fresno last night. Yuhl was on the mound and got roughed up allowing 9 runs, 8 earned over 4 innings of work. Before Fresno could even score, they were in a 9-0 hole. Moran got Fresno on the board with a solo HR in the 4th inning. Reed added a 2 run single in the 5th to make it 9-3. Salt Lake added 3 more in the 8th to make it 12-3. Fresno continued to battle though with a Moran 2 run single and a Brignace RBI groundout in the 8th. Aplin pitched a scoreless 9th, his third career relief appearance. In the 9th they got an RBI single from Reed and a 2 run HR from White but that is all as they fell 12-9.
Note: Moran has 3 HR, 11 RBI over his last 10 games.

Rough night for the offense as they only managed two hits on the night. Smith got the start and ran into some trouble. He ended up allowing 4 runs, 3 earned over 4.1 innings. The bullpen didn’t do much better as Peterson allowed 2 runs and Dorris allowed 3 runs. The offense only produced two single, which both came in the 2nd inning. They will give it another go tomorrow with Deetz on the mound.
Note: After a slow start, Ferguson is up to .286 with 9 RBI in 16 games.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (10-8) won 14-4 (BOX SCORE)
Another blowout win for Quad Cities. Perez got the start in this one allowing 1 run over his 4.1 innings of work (4 BB/4 K). Rogers got the game started off with a bang connecting on a 2 run HR in the first inning, his 3rd of the season. Henderson hit a solo HR in the 2nd, his first of the year. In the 3rd inning, the River Bandits put up 6 runs on a Wrenn RBI single, Ayarza RBI single (with two more scoring on an error), and another Henderson HR, this time a 2 run shot. In the 6th inning they could get 4 more runs on a Cameron RBI single, a run on a wild pitch, and a Dawson 2 run single. Hartman allowed 2 runs in 3.2 innings in relief but the offense put up enough runs to make it an easy win.
Note: Rogers is hitting .417 with 3 HR, 7 RBI over his last 6 games.
