Astros MiLB: David Paulino Promoted to AAA Fresno

The Astros have made a ton of minor league promotions recently and that continued today as one of the top pitching prospects, David Paulino, was promoted to AAA Fresno Grizzlies.

Paulino was originally signed by the Detroit Tigers. In the summer of 2013, the Astros sent Jose Veras to the Tigers in exchange for Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later, David Paulino. Paulino missed all of 2014 due to Tommy John Surgery but was a pitching prospect seen with a ton of upside.

Finally healthy in 2015, Paulino pitched across three different levels (A-, A, A+) and went 5-3 with a 2.81 ERA and 19 BB/72 K in 67.1 innings. Baseball America rated Paulino the #91 prospect in all of baseball prior to 2016.

Paulino started this season off in Corpus and has dominated. He has gone 5-2 with a 1.82 ERA, 64 IP, 11 BB/72 K. Paulino missed a bit of time nursing a minor injury but has came back just as strong before. The 22 year old will get one step closer to achieving his dream.

Paulino features a mid to high 90s fastball and a good curveball. The 6’7″ right hander was rated the #80 prospect in baseball by MLB.com just last month.
