Houston Astros Minor League Recap: July 1st
Another night of Astros minor league play is in the books. See how the prospects performed last night.
AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (40-39) won 4-1 (BOX SCORE)
Solid win for Fresno last night. They got on the board early with an RBI single from Duffy in the first inning. In the 2nd inning Teoscar hit a solo HR to left field, his 2nd HR in AAA and 8th HR overall. Hauschild got the start and allowed 1 run over 5 innings of work. The Fresno bullpen was very good. Chapman, Guduan, and McCurry all had scoreless outings. In the 8th inning Bregman hit a 2 run HR, his first AAA homer. Hoyt closed out the game with 2 strikeouts in the 9th. He now has 70 K in 39.1 innings.

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (51-27) lost 11-1 (BOX SCORE)
Another rough night for the Hooks pitching staff. Martes got the start and struggled early. He gave up 4 runs over 2 innings of work, but did have 5 strikeouts. The Hooks were only able to muster 1 run and that came on an RBI double from Mayfield in the 8th inning. Peterson, Thompson, and Minnis all allowed runs in relief for the Hooks.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (40-38) won 5-1 (BOX SCORE)
Back to back nights with good pitching for the Jethawks. Thornton got the start and was great going 7 innings allowing 1 run with 9 strikeouts. Lancaster got on the board in the top of the 3rd with an RBI double from Stubbs. They got three more in the 4th on RBI singles from Mizell and Nunez. They would add one more in the 6th on a Muniz sac fly. McCanna pitched the final two innings not allowing a hit or a run.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (36-42) won 5-3 (BOX SCORE)
Late rally helps QC get the win. Bower got the start and pitched really well. He gave up 2 runs both coming in the 3rd inning. He ended up striking out 11 including 6 straight at one point. QC got one in the 5th with Straw doubling and scoring on an error. They would head into the 9th down 2-1. In the 9th they rallied for 4 runs thanks to an RBI single from Correa, RBI double from Wernes, and a 2 run single from Straw. Ferrell closed the game allowing 1 run in his 3 innings of work.

Tri-City got this one started off right with a run in the first inning with Cameron scoring on a passed ball. They would add another run in the 2nd on an RBI double from Martir. Kessay got the start and allowed 1 run over 5.1 innings, striking out 7. In the 7th inning Martir added a 2 run HR, his first of the season. Wrenn contributed once again with an RBI single in the 8th. Cotton and Stutzman combined to toss 2.2 scoreless innings to close it out.
