The Houston Astros have reached a deal with another international prospect, outfielder Jack Vulvruenes, according to Francys Romero. Vulvrunes is a 17-year-old outfielder from Cuba who trains at Javier Rodriguez Academy.
Francys Romero noted that Vulvrunes has exciting tools and athleticism. Romero also notes the deal should be finalized in September. With the loss of picks due to recent free agent signings, it is nice to get another international talent in the system.
Florida Complex League Astros drop Semi-Final
The Florida Complex League Astros, the Astros lone rookie affiliate stateside, put together a great season goin 36-17 and were led by guys like German Ramirez, Anthony Huezo, Ethan Wagner and Juan Sierra. The pitching staff had some great performances from guys like Javier Perez, Luis Aguilar and David Landeta.
Unfortunately the Semi-Final is one game, and on Saturday the FCL Astros fell to the Blue Jays 4-3 in 10 innings ending their season. The Single-A Woodpeckers should receive some reinforcements now with the FCL season over as some players make the transition to full-season baseball.
